One of my favorite drinks is Kombucha. Two years ago I stopped drinking pop and found this as my favorite replacement. It's good for your health and is a great alternative to soda which is full of soda and a number of unhealthy ingredients.
Kombucha is a slightly sour, fizzy drink which contains a minimal amount of natural occurring alcohol. Despite trace amounts of alcohol, kombucha is not considered to be an alcoholic beverage. Kombucha begins as an ordinary tea sweetened with organic white table sugar. By the end of the process, the mixture has transformed into kombucha whis is tart die to the presence of acetic acid and gluconic acid. After your batch of kombucha goes through a second fermentation within bottles or kegs, where the residual yeast and bacteria will consume the sugars and create natural carbonation. Kombucha contains acids that help balance digestive pH, and may contain various other micronutrients. Many proponents say kombucha contains glucuronic acid, which helps the liver clear out toxins.

Most teenagers use the same few programs for their entertainment purposes. We all listen to music and watch our favorite shows or movies on Hulu or Netflix. I usually watch my favorite shows on Netflix like The Office or The Vampire Diaries. I try not to watch Netflix as much as I would like because I know that I can be doing more productive things. Nowadays the only time I watch my favorite shows is when I am on the treadmill because it is the only way I can justify it.
Why Christmas is One of My Favorite Holidays! No matter if you like Winter or not Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year. There's a number of different ways you can celebrate with family and friends. And if you're like me where the Winter weather gets old fast there's many holiday drinks and foods that can help to keep you warm. One of my favorite Christmas traditions are the lights, my family and I kind of go a little overboard when it comes to decorating around this time of year. From October through December our house is filled with decorations. I love driving through Lincoln and Omaha and seeing the houses and streets lit up with lights it makes the weather all worth it. One of my favorite things I do during this season is bake Christmas cookies and build gingerbread houses. My friends and I do this every year and it is always so much fun. The holidays are one of my favorites to spend time with the people that mean the world to me. These traditions are only a few of my favorite things that I get to do during this period of time and that is why Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. Depression In TeensI chose to write about Teen Depression because I feel that it is not talked enough about and that it may not be taken as seriously as it should. Many teens deal with this mental illness and it is not known because they choose to keep it to themselves or they are not taken seriously when they are open about their problems. This mental health problem causes teens to become uninterested in activities and creates a persistent feeling of sadness. Some causes of teen depression include pressure from their peers, academic expectations, and even puberty. For most teens the only relief is either medication or psychological counseling. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if somebody is going through ups and downs because sometimes those are just parts of being a teenager. Talking with the person to see if life is just seeming overwhelming can help give you insight as to whether or not they are doing ok on their own. There is no way to prevent depression everybody deals with ups and downs but for some it is just harder to manage. Some strategies that help teens are to take steps to control your stress, reach out to your friends for emotion and social help, get treatment at the earliest sign of problems, and to maintain your ongoing treatment. My life outside of school is pretty boring, until it comes to the weekends. I usually come home from school on Mondays and Tuesdays around 3:45, once I get home I try to work out but that often does not happen. I usually do not start my homework until around 6 pm due to procrastination. While I do my homework I have to be listening to my music on Spotify or having one of my favorite shows like The Office or Friends be playing in the background. On Wednesday's I usually have the same routine except I will have softball practice these nights so I won't get home until around 8:45 so my homework won't be started until around 9 or 9:30. At home I am mostly doing homework, practicing for softball, and working out. The weekends are everybody's favorite part of the week, I love my weekends. I am able to sleep in a couple extra hours and drink my coffee and relax. I love to hangout with my friends over the weekends we will usually go see a movie or just hangout at one of our houses. We almost always get food at some one of our favorite places like Raising Cane's or Panera. What I do outside of school is pretty predictable and average but I love my routine. The first written records of Nessie are found in a biography by St. Columba from 565 AD. According to Columba this monster bit a swimmer and was prepared to attack another man when Columba stopped the incident and ordered that the monster "go back." The Loch Ness area has attracted numerous monster hunters and sonar explorations. These explorations have undertaken to locate the monster, but none were successful. Multiple photographers exclaimed that they had found the beast but were often discredited and proved to be false by showing that they had used other animals or objects as their subjects. The Loch Ness monster continues to be a popular myth even without evidence. This monster has also helped to boost Scotland's economy by contributing nearly $80 million dollars annually.
For my writer's choice I decided to write about one of my favorite drinks; Coffee. Coffee is a drink made from roasted coffee beans. Coffee beans are found inside of the coffee cherry which is a fruit that is grown on a shrub that is native to Africa and parts of Asia. No one is for sure on why someone chose to take a bean out of the center of a fruit, roast it, and turn it into a drink but there are multiple theories. Coffee is now the most consumed beverage in the United States In 2015 the coffee industry brought in around $225.2 billion. With this industry being so popular and continuing to rise it creates jobs and currently has created over 1.6 million jobs. The number one coffee chain in the United States is Starbucks, which is not surprising. They do not offer as many food options as their competitors but their smaller menu offers healthier options. They have over 21,000 stores in over 65 countries which allows the brand to cater to a large variety of cultures and languages. Other popular chains would include: Caribou Coffee, Dunkin', and Seattle's Best Coffee. The coffee industry is going to continue to prosper. From sleep deprived high school students, hungover college students, and overall tired adults we all enjoy our coffee that gives us that little boost to make our days better. My daily life is usually pretty busy, I always have stuff to do and places to be. My alarm goes off around 6 am, but I'm lucky if I get out of bed before 7. As soon as I wake up I go to my bathroom to put in my contacts and brush my teeth. Next I go downstairs to make my coffee or tea because I can not function if I do not have some sort of caffeine. I get ready for school and if I did not pack my stuff the night before I will pack my clothes for practice, my lunch, and anything I have later that day. Everyday I leave my house around 7:45 (sometimes 7:50 - 7:55) to get to school around 8. I attend my classes from 8:10 to 3:30. Once school is out I go change into my softball clothes and leave the school so that I can make it to practice by 4. After doing fielding drills and hitting for two hours I get out of practice around 6. My friends and I usually do something after practice so I usually don't get home until 7:30 or 8. Once I get home I eat something quickly and hop in the shower. Every night I start my homework around 9 pm and work on it usually until 11:30 to 12. After I finish studying and doing my homework I will go to bed and do it all again the next day! My family is very important to me. They are my biggest cheerleaders when it comes to anything I'm involved in. My parents are at every one of my softball games and come to our school's football games just to watch me cheer. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have gone out for cheer or pushed myself to run for FBLA Vice-President. Two things that mean so much to me that I would've never gone for.
My mom, Holly is like a built my best friend. Without her I wouldn't have grown my love for shopping. She was a cheerleader, lifeguard, and worked at a bank. So I'm very proud to be almost her mini me. Although she gave me my height (5'3) I am so honored when people tell me I look like her because she's is so beautiful inside and out. Thanks mom for making me the person I am today! My dad, Matt is my other built in best friend. From our fist bumps to little sayings he can make me laugh and smile even when I'm in the worst mood (which he usually causes). He has coached me in softball since I could basically walk and taught me to love sports and to push myself to be my best. I couldn't thank him enough for the countless hours of throwing me balls to hit and catching for me when I pitched. He also coached me in basketball and taught me to always play my best and believe in myself. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be the player, student or person I am. My younger brother, Chase is my best friend. Even though you got the looks and are the athletic one you are the best little brother I could've asked for. Growing up with you has been one of the biggest blessings I could have asked for. Thanks for trying to give me tips on my swing even when I've been playing longer than you (haha). I love coming to your baseball games to watch you kick butt. I'm so proud of the player you have become. From winning state, being an all-star, and making baseball factory you make me the proudest big sister ever! I could not have asked for a better family. I got so blessed to have my biggest cheerleaders and best friends be my family! |
